Eastern Anatolia
Eastern Anatolia is a region in Turkey that encompasses a vast and rugged terrain of high mountains, deep valleys, and wide plateaus. It borders the Black Sea to the north, the Caucasus Mountains to the east, and the Taurus Mountains to the west. The region is rich in cultural heritage and historical significance, with ancient cities, monuments and sites scattered throughout. Some of the most famous sights in eastern Anatolia include the city of Erzurum, with its impressive medieval citadel; the ruins of Ani, an ancient Armenian city; and Mount Ararat, considered a holy site by many religious groups.
