Day 1 - Ankara
After your arranged morning flight from Istanbul to Ankara, you will be met by your tour guide and start your tour of Ankara, the capital of Turkey, and the second-largest city after Istanbul. Your first stop in this city will be The Anatolian Civilization Museum, the perfect introduction to Turkey’s ancient past. The exhibits are chronologically arranged, starting with the Paleolithic and Neolithic displays, and gives us unique examples of Hittite art. After having lunch at a restaurant, the next visit will be to Rahmi Koc Museum to see the examples of agricultural machinery and pharmaceutical exhibits. The museum also houses sections that focus on Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, giving you some details before visiting the Mausoleum of Ataturk. Your last visit for today will be Anitkabir. It is the mausoleum of Ataturk, the leader of the Turkish War of Independence, and the founder and the first President of the Republic of Turkey. After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel for overnight in Ankara
Day 2 - Hattusha, Yazilikaya & Alacahoyuk
Breakfast will be followed by a 3,5-hour drive to Bogazkoy, which is established right next to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of "Hattusha." After lunch, you will start exploring the ancient city of the Hittites with your guide. The Hattusha's ancient city was established by the Hatti people used to live in the area before the Hittites showed up; however, the Hittites preserved the name of the city and some part of the language of the Hittites to respect the Hatti culture and Gods. Hence the Hittites are called a nation of one thousand gods. The city was bigger than one square mile, with the inner and the outer city surrounded by massive city walls whose foundations can be seen today. The Acropolis of the city was consisting of the official and administration buildings overlooking the lower city and the religious sanctuary of Yazilikaya. Members of the sovereign are believed to had used a suspension bridge from the Acropolis to Yazilikaya, but today, we will drive. There are two rock-cut chambers carved into the basalt rocks, and the most important gods are portrayed over the rocks, which were worshiped throughout the year. A 45-minute drive will take us to Alacahoyuk, an important Neolithic excavation site, and has been a small farming city during the Hittite era. After a walk around the site, you will drive to Yozgat town for overnight.
Day 3 - Avanos and Zelve
Our guide and driver will take you to Cappadocia today after breakfast at your hotel. You will drive around 3 hours and reach Cappadocia by lunch, which will be served in Avanos town. Then, you will visit Zelve Open Air Museum, an impressive village composed of troglodyte houses, cave churches, and a mosque giving us broad information about the lifestyles of the Christian and Muslim communities of Cappadocia. After a coffee break underneath the trees in Zelve, we will drive to Devrent (imagination) valley to walk over Cappadocia's lunar landscape. We will continue to Urgup town to taste the interesting local wines of the region and check in to our hotel. Overnight in Cappadocia.
Day 4 - Cappadocia at its best
You will be picked up early in the morning from your hotel for a once in a lifetime experience, a Hot Air Balloon flight over the phenomenal landscape of Cappadocia. Be the part of the wind and watch the sunrise from your basket while floating over the Cappadocia region's volcanic natural beauties. After landing, you will celebrate it with a glass of champagne and receive your flight certificates. Your balloon crew will drop you at your hotel or breakfast. Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel after your second breakfast, and you will start exploring the rest of Cappadocia. You will first walk around the beautiful fairy chimneys of Monks Valley, which looks like a forest of gigantic chimneys. You will continue to the of the Goreme Open Air Museum to see the rock-carved churches where Christian monks once lived. The frescoes painted on the churches' walls are dating back from the 10th and the 11th Century. You will have a local lunch in Goreme village and continue to a nice viewpoint to taste the Turkish Coffee. We then continue to the underground city of Kaymakli to explore the maze-like cities built by the people to protect their goods, families, and animals from the enemies. We will also visit the old Greek village of Mustafapasa called Sinasos by the Greeks, who lived there until 1923. The houses built by those people are still outstanding among central Anatolia's stone houses, and the doors are really making you feel like walking in a Greek Village. You will be dropped at your hotel afterward for an overnight in Cappadocia.
Day 5 - Fly back to Istanbul
Our driver will take you to one of the airports of Cappadocia after breakfast at your hotel for a flight to Istanbul or your next destination.
